For the past 6 hours or so, ive been trying to wire my front speakers in. I have the premium sound, and I removed the amp and disconnected the wires going to it. Im pretty sure the wires going to the amp are directly connected to the speakers/tweeters. It is a 2 plug system. The colours are as follows:

Plug 1:
Pink w/Green stripe
Orange w/Green
Pink w/Blue
Green
Pink w/Blue (again)
Green w/Orange
White w/Green
Blue w/White

Plug 2:
Light Green
White w/Red
Blue w/Black
Purple w/White
Black w/White
Orange w/Blue
Yellow and Red (thicker guage, for power)

I have found a use for all of the wires on the first harness, but the second harness I have no clue what anything is for. I got the driver's tweeter working, and the passenger's door speaker working, but i cant get any sound to the passenger tweeter or driver door. Ive stripped like all the wires and ive been trying different combos of wires trying to figgure out what powers these 2 speakers, but im getting nowhere. The colours of the wires dont help me at all because everything does something different than what its hooked up to!!! The tweeter wires run one tweeter, but the other set of tweeter wires somehoe run the passenger door. I am so confused. Ive checked all my fuses etc. and they're fine. Anyone know whats going on? Or know what colour wires are for what? or best case scenario, be able to tell me how to hook up my deck/speakers properly!?! thank you!

There is another harness behind the dash to the left of the glove box, if you are using one of the adapter kits it will plug right in there, this bypasses the factory amps. Oh yeah you may have to remove the glove box.

I'm by far not an expert but I did do my own and I too have a premium sound system, I had to use that harness that is by the glove box to get it to work, just have to disconnect it then pull it down behind the radio.

Sorry if this doesn't help....

Oh yeah, A circuit city audio installer told me about that other harness. I figured he better know what he's talking about.

Ok, so theres another wiring harness under the dash beside the glovebox!?! where is it exactly???

Theres a pic... ive been trying to use the 2 harnesses off the amp, but cant figgure them out. this one from the glovebox should work then??? I'll try that tomorrow... But a couple wires from the amp are working, so this is getting really confusing..

The adapter kit cost me $7 at Canadian tire, so you could get it at walmart in the states for less than $5, it plugs in and gives you every wire's purpose. Easy as cake.

would be if i didnt already cut all the wires... lol If theres another harness under the dashboard tho, i could still use an adapter for that... if i find the harness, i'll go look for an adapter.

The wiring harness behind the glove box im pretty sure is non exhistant! All mustangs haave the black and grey plugs. The black is both + and - for speakers, and the grey is for dimmer, 12v power, etc etc.

Only problem is that Ive tried every wire combo i can think of, and it didnt work... i have a couple more ideas for tomorrow. I think 1 harness is completely useless and the other has shared negative wires. But if theres another harness alltogether than thats just ******* up

The interior of this car is a pain in the friggin a*s. Everything is meant to clip together easily, but never come apart or be changed. lol

Man there are two harness. One of them has 12 wires, 6 + and 6 - for your speakers. The other harness has wires for 12v, dimmer, ignition, etc etc.

Email me at jefweber@sympatico.ca and i will send you a couple files that might help, regarding wiring diagrams for the stereo.

Im looking on your Maverick.org site at that wiring diagram. It looks like it should work, but i just have 1 question. Are all the wires directly beside eachother going to the same speakers???

I don't think so. Take a look at those files i sent you, should be all the info you need (aslong as the diagram and .pdf file's colours match your harness colours, which they probably don't LOL).

thanks for the help mavrick, those diagrams should help tons.

The premium sound diagram colours match, the pdf doesnt. But I think i can wire it up properly no problem as long as the wires in the premium sound picture all go to where the pic says they do. So thanks for ur time.

what do mean it doesn't exist???? if you take off the glove box, reach to the left in the dash it is sitting right there, it comes from the amp, I'm not arguing I'm just telling you what I did, and I had no trouble what so ever. In fact a while back someone else had the same problem in the sound and shine forum I suggested the same to him and he was happy as a pig in ****, I'm just tryin to help, and hell if there is another way that's great...You learn something new everyday!

Well, im pretty sure its wired correctly. But the left door speaker and right tweeter still dont work. Im guessing I broke the prongs or something on those speakers, or maybe a blown fuse that I havent seen yet. Following all the diagrams I've seen, the way its wired rite now should work. I thought that was originally how it would work, and the diagrams confirmed it, but it still isnt working 100%. I have 4/6 speakers rite now, which will keep me happy until the summer when I have infinite time to be out working on it. I'll probably just re-wire all the front speakers tho.
