I have had my Stage I for about 500 miles. My clutch pedal
vibrates like crazy, more so at idle and under 1500rpm- and I hear a
tapping sound. The clutch also is grabby (chatters). Spec said all
of this was totally normal. My pedal has no slack and grabs about in the
middle of travel.
My speed shop said the installer bent the pressure plate fingers.
I know that some have had this problem also. Will it get better,
whats the deal?
Thanks.

Sorry to hear man.

So far my Spec Stage II has been fine  . Ive only got about 130 miles on it so far, but it bites great and has offered me 0 trouble.

How did you drive it after the install? I was told no crazy clutch action lol. I can take it up to 4000rpm or so, but just dont side step the clutch until 500 miles.

...been taking it real easy...

My Spec stage I had the EXACT same problems. After a few thousand miles, I replaced it (2 days ago). When they took out the clutch, it was in horrible shape, "*****ed up" as the shop put it, and the flywheel burnt. I admit I romped on it a couple times around 300 miles, but overall was good to it. The thing is, the nasty pedal vibration was there from day one. Not just chatter, but hardcore pedal vibration that you can feel. Feels horrible.

I have sence replaced it with a Ford Motorsport King Cobra clutch and a Steeda Firewall quad and cable adjuster. The pedal has ZERO vibration problems and the clutch is much smoother. There is chatter from the clutch, but its mostly a scratchy sound. I have 233 miles so far on this clutch and have babied it to kingdom come. Im taking no chances with this one, not going to romp on it till ~800 miles.

I admit partially to my clutch failing, but I blame spec for the outrageous chatter, not only from the clutch but through the pedal as well. A steeda firewall quad adjuster could very well have solved my problem, but now we will never know.

A REAL king cobra clutch, like the kind found on Steedas website, is about the same strength as a Spec stage I, except smoother and with much less pedal effort. Shifting is almost eerily smooth now...
