Specter: Patriots have been taping since 2000.

* Personally, I don't care.* I do know that Belichick was told personally to not tape and he was arrogant enough to tape anyways,* so that makes him an ass--------hole to me.* He thought he was smarter than the system and he got nailed and then said he thought it was legal.* Bitch please.

It was legal. Its not illegal to video tape the other team in the NFL. What the Patritos did wrong was where they taped from. The taping is not the issue, it was the location.

And now they get sued for $100 mil for those tapes... :rlaugh: :rlaugh: :rlaugh:

I felt this was big enough for its own thread:D

<== Pats fan.

Belechick cheated. He wasn't the only one. Specter's pursueing this for 2 reasons.

1. Anti-trust exemptions aren't loudly embraced. But when they're allowed, he feels they better respect the fact that they can be retracted.

2. He feels taxpayers are being forced into rebuilding their cities and infrastructure to support Pro teams arena/stadiums.

Other than embarrasing the NFL what can be gained from this?

then let the law enforcement people deal with it.. It's a MLB problem how they handle the CBA aspects of this

..

Whatcan be gained? I'mnot sure but I wonder if this was a kind of a warning that if ANYHTING illegal is going on that they are being watched.

And for the law enforcement thing, when it involves possible international drug importing, interstate transporting, and illegal drugs being sent by the US Postal service, the gov usually handles those. Much like the congresional hearing on the JFK and mafia cases. No tcomparing them at all but just an example.

EDIT: I'm not trying to say I side with the Spector, but I am just trying to maybe bring to light on WHY he's doing it.

I find it interesting but I am not surprised tht this has gotten ingored

http://www.coldhardfootballfacts.co...ials_saw_spy_at_NE_practice_before_SB_36.html

A NFL offical spotted a spy at the patriots practice before SB36

Is spector going to get to the bottom of this and many other examples of "cheating" that went against the pats or that did not involve the pats at all..

When he investigates this stuff as a whole and not just what belichick did then I will consider his investigation credible.. untill then he is a eagles fan who is in comcasts pocket who happens to be a senator.

BTW A little searching on the internet the other night I found quotes from way before 2000 where people talk about the signals being videotaped.. a bucs defensvie co. was quoted in 1994 saying that he thinks taping the signals crosses the line but many teams are doing it..

1994 is way before belichick was the coach of the patriots..

IS SPECTOR GOING TO INVESTIGATE THAT????

I did not think so.

here is the quote

"We know that [stealing signs] became an area of concentration for a lot of teams," the coach said. "I think that crossed the line of ethics; to have teams videotaping me on the sideline, then learning our plays."

The coach in question was Sam Wyche, then of the Tampa Bay Bucs. The quote comes from a St. Petersburg Times story published in 1994.

link with another quote and it's interesting article

My point in all this is I think spying became even more commonplace since that time.. Before the league tryed to put the genie back in the bottle this past off-season I think almost all teams were doing this stuff if not all teams. Thats one of the reasons I think goodel wanted to try and stop it..

I think Goodel did the right thing trying to stop this stuff but this has now turned into a witchhunt of belichick ove something that people were doing way before he started coaching..

Way back even in the 1970's people were trying to steal signs and videotape practices and signs this is not new.

Again, I'm not sure if there is any other reasons why this is being done. But, however, He was told not to tape from the sideline and did.

You have to see how long he has been doing this to make a point of yes, you have been doing it, you got caught. What else was being hidden by destroying evidence? We will never know what all is involved with this. All the media reports mean nothing to me. There is more to this than we think. We just have no clue what it is.
