speed density to mass air

MASS air conversion instructions from http://www.stangnet.com/tech/maf/massairconversion.html FREE
A9L (5 Speed) computer from junkyard $100-$150
A9P (Auto or in a pinch, 5 Speed) computer from junkyard $100-$150
70MM MAF from 94-95 Mustang GT - $40-$70
MASS Air wiring harness kit $30-$85

The whole thing is probably less than $300 using junkyard parts.

A9L computers are 5 speed only
A9P computers are automatic , but will work with a 5 speed.

ok im wanting to go from speed density to mass air i have a parts car that was mass air what all do i need to swap it to mass air and any pointers will be apreciated
You could keep the SD harness and just wire in the MAF wire's (4 of them) and be done. Ive always had $htty luck swapin harnesses. Good luck

I just did it like a month ago and i just wired in the 4 wires from the clip into a mass air computer you also want to run a wire from your fuel pump relay the pink and black wire to your the mass air computer.

Instead of idling down like It is supposed to do when the accelerator is no longer applied, I believe it just straight shoots back down to idle. In the most extreme cases, it can cause stalling.

I did not hook up that sensor when i did my conversion and have had no problems at all. I had heard stalling may have been a problem but i never heard the thing about the idle shooting strait down before, and i have not personally had any problems with that.

When doing the conversion you will not be able to use the entire engine harness out of the mass air car in your sd car unless you also switch out the dash harness too.

Your best bet is to take the donor harness, open it up and take the mass air portion out of it. Then all you have to do is splice in the power and ground wire into the main harness (i would recommend soldering the connections) and plug the other pins into the correct places in the computer.

For the specifics this tech article does a pretty good job explaning what you need to do. http://www.stangnet.com/tech/maf/massairconversion.html

I would do that too, or just buy the 4 wire harness new for 45 bucks and use that. u just need to reuse the mass air computer and maf and tubing from the donor car.

I also never hooked up the speed sensor, i went to look for the harness to tap into and there were no wires, i guess 87 models didnt have a vss :notnice: I am having a problem when pushing in the clutch while moving and the idle drops down real low like its gonna stall and then it catches itself and maintains idle depending on how fast im going and stuff. But it just started doing it and my maf is taking a crap and im very sure thats it.
