Will be permanently removing the speedo cable from a Fox Mustang and want to plug the hole in the firewall. Has anyone done this and if so which plug did you use? I know I could just silicone up the one the cable passes through but would prefer a new plug with no hole.

The factory just used a standard body plug where the speedo cable was on the aod cars because ford routed the cable through the hole for the clutch cable on those cars.

Mcmaster also sells panel plugs that would fit in place. I’ve used similar plugs to fill other holes.

Do you know the OD of the hole in the firewall? I can’t measure mine because it’s occupied

Good call. I’ll use my calipers and order a body plug. I’ll post back up with what I order but I’ll make sure it fits before I post back.

Just curious... Are you keeping cruise control?

Ha ha ha!!! In short no. This is on my carbureted 351W in the T-Bird so the EEC-III found it’s way to the trash can on 1998. Did a full custom instrument panel for it and am ditching the cable driven speedo.

Not a Mustang but in case anyone wanted to see.

A 5 speed T-bird would be fun.... I remember when this body style came out new... It was well received....

Dad bought it new so it’s never left the family. Was an automatic AOD car so the conversion was “fun”.
