Speedo Gear Install

I'm trying to install the gear on my 88 GT manual with cruise (if that matters)but can't get the old gear out of the transmission. I removed the bolt and can rotate the assembly, but can't pull it out of the transmission.

This should be a very easy process, but as usual, nothing ever seems to go right.

Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

It's an o ring seal into the trans. Once you remove the bolt and clip, just friction holds it in. Give it a twist and pull
