Speedo gear

Take out the speedo cable/ Vehicle Speedo Sensor out of the transmission.. and look inside. You can see the DRIVE gear on the output shaft of the transmission. You will see what color it is, then match up the color with the teeth and go from there. :nice: Also, some companies do make 23 tooth speedo driven gear.. Like www.mustangsunlimited.com . If you have the 8 tooth (90 and up) drive gear inside the transmission, a 23 tooth speedo gear will work, but it is more expensive. I also believe there is a certain Dodge that had the 23 tooth speedo gear that works, and is about 15 bucks cheaper from the dealer.

Ok so I should look at the drive gear and match the color up with the website you provided me with and pick the speedo gear from there. Why were you telling me about the 23 tooth sppedo gear? You got me a little confused there.

Because with a 90 and up T-5 with the 8 tooth, green drive gear... none of the FORD speedo gears will work, will make the speedo correct. The most teeth you can get is 21 directly from Ford. A 21 tooth speedo gear and an 8 tooth trans gear will only be acurate up to 3.27 gears... If you use 3.55s, you need to step up to the aftermarket or Dodge 23 tooth gear to make the speedo read correctly. :nice:
