On my last drive before i left for vacation my speedo began to act odd, bouncing etc. after a little while it would bounce around the right speed if under 40 but after that it just stayed pegged and then would bounce at under 40. It also makes a loud "spinning" noise. The cable is newer prob less than 500 miles. Do I need to search out a replacement or is there a fix for these? Its an "87" 85mph speedo so if its bad I'll look for a 140mph what is the year range that will work?

Thanks,
Ken

You are having the common "bouncing" speedometer issue that a lot of us have. What you can do is take the speedometer cable off the back of the instrument cluster and spray a little white lithium grease inside the cable. This should help the bouncing, but may not cure the issue.

There is also a bushing on the back of the speedo head that likes to loosen up and can cause the bouncing. You'll need to remove the speedo to access it.

Just tried to send you a message but it wouldn’t go through. Was wondering about fuel and oil pressure

Depend on the MS platform that you are running will dictate the amount of open inputs to the ECU. If you are running a MS2 then you only have (2) open ADC's, which you could then wire in (2) electronic pressure transducers back to your ECU for oil and fuel pressure. If you are wanting to add more I/O's then you may want to look at adding a Tiny I/O like @a91what has for his car.

Sorry to bump this up... Lubing the cable solved my issue. I was surprised it was dry. never even thought to check it when i installed it. Lesson learned.

I like it when there is an 'fix update', even if it's a simple one.
