ok guys, the other day im leaving work and my car just dies, then i start it back up and proceed to pull out and go home, it dies when i release out of the clutch, after that its fine, but getting it to go from a dig at a light or something, takes revving it to 4k and hammering it for it to not die.. the speedo works fine, but if its plugged in it will do this and its really getting frustrating, unplugged it runs fine just no speedo..

anybody know what im talking about? i already put another vss in it, and it does the same chit..

yes ive ruled out the iac, like i said it will idle fine and drive fine the speedo doesn't jump around, but when i come to a stop, and then try to take off it will do its best to kill the engine, like its cutting spark or something? but if you get it to barely roll its fine and dosent happen again until you stop. SO i just unplugged the vss and all is well and it is fine from a dig, just no speedo..

I'm assuming VSS is vehicle speed sensor?! And when unplug the speed sensor you can start from a dig? Use a voltmeter to check your VSS. Turn the ignition key ON w/the engine not running. The reference wire should have 5 volts. If there are no volts then its your PCM. Also bench check your VSS for a pulsing voltage. Backprobe the harness connector using two pins and while SLOWLY spinning the VSS gear observe that the voltage signal pulses from 0-0.5. Use Alternating Current. This is from Haynes manual. Does your cruise control work? If not then it is your VSS. Just try this w/your new one. From my Chassis electrical system schemata your VSS only goes back to your PCM and Speedometer, I wonder if you are having a connection problem, I don't really see you PCM going bad. PCM or connection problem to the new VSS. See your VSS is getting the correct voltage and returning the signals.

it had 10v at an idle, and the vss i think is good, my stupid 23 tooth gear is stripped, i cleaned it all up and went for a drive, it went down like this: come to a stop doing maybe 50mph, when i pushed in on the clutch the speedo went to 0, then died when i came to a stop, got it back up, go to take off dies again.

it like a 2 step when i try to take off, it wont go past like 2500 then when it starts rolling its fine? but the tooth being stripped might be screwing with me alot as it too controls the iac..
