Alright, i know this is the 5.0 forum, but seems like no one ever checks out the V6 forum, lol.

Just got my 95 V6 (auto) running, drove it for the first time today.. knock on wood, literally everything turned out smoothly except for the fact the speedo wasnt working. Im not sure if these 95s have electronic speedos, or cable driven.. Not sure of what could be holding it back from working; anyone got some tips?

Also, i have a post in the V6 tech about doing a T-5 swap, much appreciated if someone can take a look!

it does look a little dead over there.

the speedo is electric.the VSS is located on the drivers side of the tranny.grab your Haynes or Chiltons manual,it will show you how to remove it and test it.

if the VSS looks good, remove the tranny wiring harness and check the wires to make sure they are not damaged or melted togeather, repair as needed.

when my speedo went out,the VSS was fine, but the wires leading to the VSS were touching and melted togeather.

i repaired the wires, but had to get a used Speedo/RPM assembly because when the wires touched,i guess it killed the speedo.

hope this helps.good luck with the T5 conversion, you will not be disappointed.

Does your car have cruise control? If so and that is working, your VSS is fine. That means the signal is getting if not to the cluster, right close to it.

In my case I had to pull the cluster out and pry the brass tabs on the harness out to make better contact.

If I remember right the fuse for the speedo is along with quite a few other items. I would suspect since cruise is working that either the plug is not making good contact, or the cluster has issues.

Pull the cluster, on the plug nearestthe center of the car take a small screwdriver and pry the tabs out a LITTLE, maybe clean with an eraser and try it out.

Well, i found a ground in the back of the radio that wasnt hooked up, so i linked it with the radio ground, and the static i had when i turned the a/c on went away, along with the speedo began to work... ford definitely has a funky harness setup lol..
