Hi guys. I have a problem where sometimes my speedometer will work and sometimes it won't. One time I may start the car up and it works fine and another time it may not register at all. It seems to be intermittent. I've even had it go from non-funcitoning to funcitoning and vice versa while I'm driving. There are no other problems. It does not shift at the wrong time or not shift at all. I don't know if its the speed sensor, the wiring connected to the speed sensor, or perhaps the wiring connectiong the computer to the speedometer. Any suggestions on what the problem could be and how to check would be appreciated. I realize speed sensors are pretty cheap but I'd rather check it out before I go drop $40 for something I don't need. Thanks!

Unless you have a TwEECer R/T to see what the EEC is getting when your speedo is malfunctioning, it's going to be hard to tell what's broken. Mine started acting up -- working sometimes, then failing, then telling me I was going 120 mph when I was really only going 50, etc -- I replaced the speed sensor, and that was NOT the problem, it turned out to be the speedo itself. I just replaced the entire cluster with a low-mileage one from a 95 Cobra, problem solved.

Hmmm... does this mean I have to take it to a dealer? Or is there somewhere else I can have it checked? Or perhaps I can buy one of those units myself? (But I imagine they are expensive.)
