Spiral Pin

welcome to the boards. :nice:

ummm, i may be an idiot, but im not sure what the spiral pin is. do you mean a cotter pin on the tie rod? straighten it with needlenose pliers and pull it (or hammer it) out.

please do be sure to you are up to par on doing this job - steering is very important and not something you want to be unsure of.
and if i did not understand the question, i apologize.

good luck.

The Ford service manual says to screw in the threaded adapter for a small slide hammer, and remove it with a slide hammer.

I have just screwed the appropriate size wood screw or sheetmetal screw into it and pried it out with pliers.

You can drill them, but the hole does not go all the way through, and then you wont have the pin to use over.

Last resort is to just break it off when you screw the tie rod socket off, but that also destroys the pin and takes a strong arm.

RD, since you know what the person is talking about, what are they talking about? i dont recall any such thing?
that is a lot of work for what i thought the poster was talking about.
