The 7up car needs new tires. I currently have BF Goodrich T/A that are damn close to slicks... Really like the RWL on the factory hurricanes with the emerald green paint and white top. Gives the car that old school look. I am thinking of getting the Mickey Thompson S/T as the T/A's do not hook up very good. Or what else is out there …… Thoughts?

how about a set of BF Goodrich drag radials for better traction if you prefer that type of tread:

I was hoping to stick with Raised White Letter tires as I like the look...

No matter what street radial you use its not gonna hook up, you have to sacrifice something if you want the car to have a fighting chance on the street.

You could always buy a drag radial and paint the letters white.

but if you dont want to do that then i would just stick with the radial TA, a street tire is a street tire at the end of the day, they arent made to grip like a drag radial and for the most part they are all made the same

Tires

I've got the same thread going on "help with hooking", funny that we both have 7 Up cars.

By the time I buy the T/A's and have them shipped and mounted I am in for almost $500. I can get a set of anniversary rims with 255/40/17 on them shipped to the house for $820. Will that make sizable difference on rear traction?

Well... After about a year of contemplating and fretting, I broke down and order the O.E. Anniversary 4 lugs with 255/40/17 … Was only several hundred more than new tires for the turbines and now I can keep the factory rims safe. I am still on the fence as to whether or not I will like the gunmetal with the emerald green paint, but decided chrome would just be too much bling for me. I will post some pictures once I get them mounted.
