spout connector and timing...

i took my spout connector out and started my car and set my timing to 10 degrees. when i put the connector back in, it jumps up a couple of degrees, is that supposed to happen or what?

The spout just takes the computer out of the picture while you set base timing. Once you plug it back in the computer takes over timing advance and you have lied to the computer by changing the initial setting it thinks its running off of.

It seems to me that it should have jumped more than a couple of degrees.
