Question about my 1991 Mustang 5.0 LX

I've got rotten seals on the opening of the filler tube and the tank is leaking, too, probably where the tube enters the tank. Have any of you ever used those spray-on sealers like they advertise on TV to repair (at least temporarily) this kind of problem? Also, how dangerous is it to use screwdrivers and pliers on that when there's fuel in the tank?

Thanks!

There is no danger for using pliers or a screw driver on the gas tank/seal. I would highly recommend you just pay the $20 or so for a brand new filler neck seal from LMR.com. They are not hard to remove and install and will last you another 20+ years.

Thank you @FoxMustangLvr for the suggestion!

It's only an inch or two. What's the big deal?

I agree. I've changed the filler neck seal without even dropping the tank. Didn't even take an hour. Don't try to save 10 minutes and just make a big mess that will probably still leak anyway.
