Spray Painting Front Bumper

My Dad always adds some flex agent right in with the paint for painting something like a bumper cover.....He said he has never tried adhesive promotor but he thinks it should be mixed with the primer

You do not want to use a wax and grease remover on plastic parts of any kind. It will act as a "release" adjent and could cause many adheision problems. You need to use a plastic parts cleaner. Then you should use an adheision promotor such as PPG's dpx801. Then topcoat with a good epoxy primer base and clear. If you use spray paint it will not last sorry to say.

Mustang bumper covers are urethane, not plastic.
The grease and wax wipe wouldn't be done directly on the urethane anyway, it would be done over the existing paint or primer that he roughed for bite. There's nothing that gets shot with my gun, before it's wiped with grease and wax remover.

Although I agree, real automotive paint should be used.... as far as "spray paint can't last"... Below is an experiment I did. The complete car was painted with $1 a can Wal-mart spray enamel and clear. Three years later, no chipping nor fading. Although the clear has yellowed some and I'm in the process of repainting it (w/ real automative finish this go around), the spray bomb paint job was a fun little project.


The shine doesn't show too good in pictures, because it's white, but it was wet sanded and polished just like real paint and shines like it.
