I am buying a set of C-Springs for my 96 gt coupe. I am so tired of that 4X4 look. I want it to be pretty low in the front and I have heard of people removing spring isolators for more lowering. Is it bad at all to do this? What are the pros and cons and such?

I guess this won't help you too much because I don't have c springs. I have H&R supersports without isolators and I have not had any problems. I just made an 1/8 inch rubber doughnut to place under and above each spring. no problems yet.
hope this helps.

Hey Snowboarder1988, what rubber did you use for your spring donuts? Where did you get it? I have a Bilstein BTS kit going on soon and would like to do the same.....

I'm pretty sure it was just some standard industrial 1/8 inch thick rubber. I found a role of it in my garage and it worked great. you should be able to pick it up at a hardware store maybe. hope this helps.

Thanks, I'll look around. Did you say that you did the top & bottom of all the springs?

for me, removing mine did NOT create any extra noises than there already were. no creaks or vibrations. If you do decide to remove the isolators, i'd recommend wrapping the ends of the spring that touches the spring seat in electrical tape. For my car, i just cut out some rings of thin rubber toolbox liner just as a precaution against any noises.

I removed the fronts top and bottom recently and there are no squeaks from removing it. I hit a major bump/pothole though and it crashed a lot harder than it used to. That's a trade off I can live with for now as it looks so much better IMO. I might eventually go with H&Rs and put back the ISOs in the future if finances allow.
