It is part of the self diagnostics. Check with your code reader, repair manual, etc. It is a step or two after KOER code retrieval.

Good luck.

And here I thought I knew what I was talking about. Sorry about that, I didn't mean to mislead anyone. I defer to the better knowlege of Hissin50 and SeventyMach1.

Not at all man.

I have not seen any replies about it being fixed, so we dont know who was most helpful or right.

Thanks. I was talking about the psi vs. lph part, tho. Live and learn, that's what the site's here for.

According to <a href="http://www.summitracing.com/landing/mustang/ln_02feature.htm?ID=%7B40BD2E7F-A55C-429C-A46A-11656EBE1B24%7D&Type=5" target="_blank">this page</a> at Summit, the stock fuel pump flows about 87lph. Just a bit of trivia, and some comparison to how much better the Walbro pumps are.

I'm guessing my problem (see original post) is either the O2 sensors, clogged catalytic converters, or fuel pump (making a more noticable whine than usual). It sputtered and died again today after driving for a while. Actually, it did it as soon as I started the car after it sat all day. I let it sit for a few minutes and started it up and tried to go and almost made it home before it did it again (about 17 miles). I struggled to keep it running and it was backfiring a little and then died. I got out to look at the engine and there was some smoke rising from the exhaust underneath the car. I started it again after a couple of munites and it seemed to run fine so I tried to go the last half mile home. I coasted into my driveway. Any thoughts?

I would pull codes and go from there. Did you ever get around to it last time? Even if you did, yank codes again (even if the CEL is not on).

Good luck.

No, I never had the codes pulled. I went to Advance Auto Parts and the guy hooked up the hand-held reader to the computer under the dash, but it gave a "Linking Error". I talked to a friend who is an ASE Certified Ford mechanic and he said the correct location to hook up the reader is under the hood somewhere around the firewall.

Anyway, I replaced my fuel filter to no avail. I then dropped my tank and changed my fuel pump. The whine stopped and appeared to be fixed. I realized that the tank seal needed to be replaced, so the next day I dropped the tank again and replaced it. I am happy to say that the problem is solved. The car runs much better now. I think I will clean the MAF wires now to see if my mileage improves.

Thanks to everyone for your input.
