squeak from rear

I need help with a wierd squeak sound coming from the rear driver side wheel area. It doesnt do it all the time. On big bumps, it makes this squeak from back there. And it only sqeaks for a quick second. I can only hear it with the windows down. What i also noticed is that it does it if i swerve back and forth between a couple of lanes. I tried to replicate the sound while parked. I pushed up and down on the rear side and nothing. I pushed back and forth and nothing. I even tried to pull on the rear tire and nothing. Anybody have any ideas, its driving me up a wall.

just another bit of info. I wrecked it 6 months ago and it was that side that slammed into a curb. I had the rear disc, axle, lower control arm, and rear wheel replaced. I know it didnt do it before the wreck, but dont know what to check. Oh, and i also have full length sub frame connectors that were not replaced from the wreck.

a couple things that could cause a squeak in the rear are:

1. the parking brake cables need to be lubed
2. the antisqueal clips that go on the brake pads are missing

Inspect the rear suspension components also.

My mach used to squeek over bumps and it turned out to be the exhuast tip rupping the inside of the cutout on the bumper.

Do you have stock or aftermarket Lower Control Arms. Sometimes the poly bushings in mine will make some noise.

I'll have to check these things out. I forgot, i also had the parking brake cable on that side replaced also.

And yeah, the LCA is stock back there. Only thing aftermarket is the springs and shocks/struts.

I'll try greasing all the bushings back there also and see if that helps. I dont think its the exhaust hitting the cutout, it looks aligned when parked, unless it moves for some reason when i'm driving.

Mine seems to do it more when it is cold out. I have to get under there and spray eveything down with white lithium grease about twice a year.

yeah but he did say stock LCA's

go for the obvious, since you had an accident check the routing of the tailpipes and wiggle them around and see if they scrape anywhere
also check if the brake cable is rubbing, should be held on by a bracket

I also have the same year mustang and have the exact same problem. I have Magnapack catback and I think it something to do with that. But I also noticed it does it only when it's really cold outside.

My dad's had some strange squeaks when he drove it home the first time. His were from the front passenger side. I walked around the car and leaned on it and it did it again. So I start gently pounding with the bottom of my fist all around the fender until it did it again. Turns out that the fender was not tight. We broke out the 1/4" drive and a socket and tightened her up. No squeaks after that. Maybe it's your lucky cheap squeak day. Good luck.

probally not your problem but a few years back i had a 03 gt come in with a squeak and sometimes a slight knocking noise from the rear similar circumstances as you said. and it turned out to be one of the rear shocks.

noises are really hard to try and diag over the internet.
