Soon after I took delivery of my new Mustang GT vert, I noticed a squeak-squeak-squeak in the left rear brakes when I applied light pressure to the pedal.

Took it in once, the turned the rotor. Went away for a few days.

Took in in twice, replaced the rotor. Went away for a few days.

Today they are replacing the entire rear axle.

So, if anyone has that weird problem, maybe this thread will help them.

well not everyone will be getting new axles.... i work for a lexus dealer and we do the same thing... if there is not a TSB for that range of vehicle and the ford tech center is having many of the same complaints all over the country/world with a certain car the will ask the dealer to give them the entire assembly for the R and D lab to research. i know cause i had to do the same thing with from caliper hub and rotors on a lexus.... now that they had an entire assembly they came out with a different brake pad for the car. .... there was a ford TSB on rear brake squeak at light to moderate braking for the 05 stangs and it was due to the friction material separating from the backing. my car too has a brake squeal from the rear

Same thing is happening to my 07 on the rear left wheel. It's a squeaking noise that seems to happen mainly on light braking and sometimes randomly. I took it to my dealer, they "greased and lubed the caliper" and it went away for a few weeks. Took it again a month ago and they did the same thing! And now, (surprise, surprise!) it's making the noise again.

This morning, I took it to a different dealer and they said they will have to replace the rear axle. Does anyone suggest checking to see if there has been any additional damage to anything else because of this? A guy at work told me to check for feathered tire wear so I will do that when I get it back. Is this a risky replacement?
