One of my pulleys started squeaking like a little hoe. Anyone ever experience this with the Vortech kit? It doesn't squeak at idle, only while driving and when I come off the gas. It doesn't squeak when I have a load on the pulley.

Any tips to stop a squeak pulley?

My supercharger tends to eat belts. Mine will only lat about 2 or 3 months before it starts to squeal. I keep a can of belt dressing in my trunk. It ill keep it quiet for about a week unless it rains alot.

Yeah, but eating belts in less than 2 weeks?

Can you tell which pulley the squeak is coming from? I remember in the Vortech instruction manual that one of the head unit mounting bolts you need to "sandwich" one of the wire mounts (the one you open the hole with a drill bit) between the Vortech bracket and the engine. If you forgot to do this, this can cause the belt to misalign.

I was just going to say....sound like belt misalignment to me. Go over the whole set up to make sure everything is square.

Go to page 29 of 40, step H
Go to page 30 of 40, see illustration...it's the mounting bolt labeled "#1" and reference the note on the bottom of the page.

It's most likely a bad idler, they die easy. Or, well, it could be your alt but you should know what that sounds like when it sqeaks

Yea it's deff a pulley/belt issue. The alternator is brand new. Bleeeeeh. I hate debugging something that only comes when under a load. Tough to get in the engine bay driving around lol

I don't think they will like sitting on my blower going 35mph down the street just to listen for a squeaking belt/pulley.

Okay, I've kinda narrowed it down to when it happens:

- It happens more when the car is hot (5-10min on the road)
- It doesn't happen when there is a big load on the car or no load. Mainly mild accel/decelaration (i.e. holding the throttle at 2,500rpms going 25mph)
- It sounds almost like the jingle of santa's bells or a dog collar. It's not a clicking or a squeeeeeaking, but instead it's like a mild, annoying jingle.

Any ideas on what the above sounds like? Would it be a lose pulley? Belt alignment (don't think so as it's fine when the engine is cold)? plugs? fuel rails? Those are really the only things I replaced.

(Don't think about this too much as I can't replicate it, but this one threw me for a loop. Yesterday going 75mph on the highway I jumped off the gas and just smashed the clutch in and held it for 10 seconds. It sounded like the belt seized and the battery light came on and was quickly followed by a CEL. I slowly came off the clutch and hit the gas and she popped into gear and the lights went away. I can't replicate this though. I'm thinking it was belt slip since it was rainy and nasty.)

huh???
Your only pullied for like 10psi right? I've seen some with higher boost levels get belt slip that sounds kinda like your describing. Beleive me I know how annoying a "new funny" sound can be. Went through the same issues when I blew the percy header gasket.
bypass valve?

I'm using a stock vortech belt. I'm not even pullied! I'm at 10psi due to the boost pipe.
