Hey all--

Just noticed that when I have some noise in the front end of my GT. I get a loud squeaking when I go over speed bump, for instance. It is quiet when I drive on level pavement. What would cause this from the front end?

Maybe I should just get a louder stereo? :D

Usually, the culprit is the upper control arm bushings. They are hard to grease and often overlooked. Mustang vendors sell a kit that has angled grease fittings that make this a simple task. Sometimes they are just so worn they need to be replaced but try greasing them first.

Dave--
I have the 90 degree fittings on the upper bushings. I'll try regreasing them again and see if that helps.

Go with the louder stereo!!

Grease everything. Also you might make sure your sway bar bushings have not dried out.

GTA---What do you use to grease the sway bar bushings? I have Poly ones.

Sadly, I do need a loud stereo as I'm half deaf from loud stereos in my youth! Ah, AC/DC, Ted Nugent and Aerosmith. :nice:

I get the squeak when I get a car that doesn't have the rubber pad between the coil spring and the spring perch. So there's a metal to metal squeak.

Yes, it is probably the spring insulators (vinyl/nylon I think). Even if they are in there and just worn, the springs will creak and squeak.

They cost about two bucks and take as many days to install on their own. I'm waiting for a larger list of front end work to do before I change mine just to make it a more worthwhile weekend.

Edit: I'm talking about the insulator at the top of the shock tower, not the spring perch.
