89 GT Convertible Rear Speakers Quieter Than Front

Hi,

I'm trying to figure out if I messed up or this is by design. I have an 89 GT Convertible. When my stereo was stolen years ago, I put in a marine amp with aux plug for my phone. My front speakers sound great and loud, but I could hardly hear my rears, so I finally decided to tackle replacing them. Pulled the panel off in the back and the original speaker still works and looks fine, but is very quiet. I bought new ones, plugged one in instead of the original one and it's just as quiet.

My question is, for those of you who are running stock speakers, are the rear ones quieter than the front by design or should they be louder?

Thanks!
Julian

Was just making sure you did not wire into factory amp wiring so it sounds like you have already looked at all of that. Have you checked the gains on the amp you installed? What exact amp did you install?

Well, I must confess, that was all me. I looked last night, and one of the speaker wires at the amp connection got pulled out.

On a different note, apparently one can no longer go to Best Buy or Walmart and pick out car speakers by listening to them :fuss: can only order or buy them now.

See if there is a small car stereo shop in your area. The ones I've been too in the last year, still setup speaker displays etc.

Besides, Bob's Car Stereo and Chicken Fingers, will be happier to have your business than Walmart or Best Buy.
