Good Afternoon. What i thought to be sounding exactly like a bad fan belt turns out to be from what i think is the clutch. However when i put a little pressure on the clutch pedal (not even enough to engage the clutch) it goes away. Has anyone experianced this? thx

Throw Out Bearing is bad and requires replacement.

Good time to swap the clutch, resurface the disk, and replace the thrust bearing too, if the clutch has a lot of miles on it.

It's as much work as it is to replace the clutch... that's why you should do it all at once if the clutch is even old-ish.

Yep, defenitely the TOB. It used to drive me crazy. Defenitely a good time to upgrade your clutch if you're going to replace the TOB.

Wonderful. No idea it sounded like a fan belt. Will any harm be done if i wait a little?

Honestly, I didn't replace mine until maybe 8 months or so after first noticing it and didn't have any issues.

Just watch the noise...mine started as a quiet squeak that went to a semi steady squeal and then went to god awful all in the course of 2 weeks....this was before the blower....totally stock original everything. When I pulled mine it had totally came apart.

Yea you might want to just do the clutch while you have the whole car apart...if you go with a performance brand clutch like ram, zoom, spec, exedy....I would say use their TOB...if you go "oem replacement" from a parts store do yourself a favor and order a ford racing TOB..some of the cheap repros wear extremely early. Save another tranny pull.
