Squires Remote Mount Turbo?

I contacted them a month or so ago.. here's the 3 email responses I got:

However, we do offer a universal kit which has been a solution many of our customers in this same situation have chosen. The STS universal kit starts at under $3,000 and comes with all of the main components as our "bolt-on" kits but without any of the piping or silicone connectors (All universal kits come as tuner kits). If you are interested in this option get back in touch with us and we will help you look at installation options in your area as well as answer any questions you may have."

"The universal kit comes with the following items:
Garrett Turbo(sized according to your application)
Tial 38 mm Wastegate
STS oil pump with standard pressure alarms
All return and supply oil lines
STS wiring harness to operate oiling system with alarms and PCV system
PCV pressure switch and switch Valve system
Flanges for turbo attachment
Air Filter
STS instruction manual

I can add much of the needed silicone couplers and clamps for about $75 on top of the system. The universal system normally sells for $3150,but I've been able to offer discounted pricing to people that documented their install with pictures for our records.

I also have access to used universal kits that would sell for much less than a new. These used systems seem to go quickly, so let me know if you're interested as soon as possible."

I would love an affordable remote mount turbo system for our cars... even if it is universal.

Cause ultimatley, I would turbo my car. Just have a conservative single setup on the stock engine with a few bolt ons, and a good tune. Nothing like feeling and hearing the boost come on...

Depending on the size of the turbo there should be minimal lag. You could probably have full boost by around 2500RPMS still. Search the forums, I know there is a thread of a guy that did a custom twin remote mount turbo setup and he said he experienced minimal/no turbo lag on his setup with t3/t4's I believe it was...

From reading people's experiences with remote mount turbos, that seems to be a thing of the past. Yes there might be a slightly larger lag compared to a front mount, but its nothing to write home about.

The best remote turbo setup I've seen belongs to GreenMustangGt (94 GT). He made the side scoops functional and used them as air inlets to twin t-3 turbos... and that thing hauls @ss big time

that is genius

seen a few Fbodies with them. They don't really complain of any lag, sorry I've owned too many turbo cars to believe the NO LAG theory, but my understanding is they use a smaller than normal hotside inlet. That allows it to spool been so far back, the problem I see and feel would be is the fact that it would limit total hp.
The way I see it if I go turbo I want to make STUPID power. I don't want my power adder to be holding me back I want it to be my self restrained.

I was talkin with a friend, he said Shearer might be too much if they have to custom fab a downpipe and manifolds. Like too much as in..thousands just for that. I am still goin there Friday to talk with them and see what we're talking about - but a remote mount for a few thousand less than any other kit, how can you go wrong? If I go single, I might get a 77-80mm turbo. If I go twin, I'd like to get 67's. Whatever it takes to get to about 650-700 to the wheels, because everything else I have can support it.

LOL, fab much? That person has done a ton of work. Kudos to him, though, that car is pretty sweet.
