The SROD is a 3+overdrive 4-speed, and while it works fine, its an economy transmission, not a performance transmission.
I wonder if you could gut an SROD trans and swap in top loader gears? That would give you a strong 4-speed but without the external rods of the 4-speed shifter.
can i just change the input shaft? i was really wanted to know if the guts were the same. i'm not sure if you could gut the srod and throw a toploader gearset in there. they both look similar. maybe i'll look into it. thanks
