I had the steel core rubber gaskets. New ones last year. You should see what they look like. Real nasty looking. They werre coming apart on the inside of the valve cover. The outside edge looked great. Just wondering if the oil was too hot and cooked the part of the gasket that it came in contact with.

Maybe you should switch to corn oil, it will cook it to a more light, fluffy texture

Changed the oil in my car tonight though, man that Daytona Brent got is in rough shape. You shoulda seen what it looked like with the turbo taken out. The Turbine side was shedded and chewed up.

Yes it is. Kinda expensive though. I reseached the hell out of it and Amsoil always seems to come out on top. Even in other companies tests. Time will tell. Either way all synthetics are good for what we use them for. It's not like we are all running all out race engines hot lapping down at the track 4 nights a week! I figure if I can get a few more thousand miles out of the bearings and rings by running synthetic over dinosaur oil then its worth the investment.

Bernoulli's principle thus says that a rise (fall) in pressure in a flowing fluid must always be accompanied by a decrease (increase) in the speed, and conversely, if an increase (decrease) in , the speed of the fluid results in a decrease (increase) in the pressure.

This being said, your motor is running significantly hotter due to the turbo. Oil is going to be thinner, hence the Velocity is going to increase, causing pressure to decrease.

Yes, this princapal is true. Though, just because you have a turbo doesn't mean that your car will run hotter. Even at the same viscosity, you will still get less oil pressure with a line to the turbo. You need a restriction in the oil system to create pressure. Now, you relieve some of that pressure, so to speak, when you tap into the oil system and run another line off of it. The bearing clearances produce most of the pressure in the oil system. Tight clearances= high pressure, Loose clearances= low pressure. So, when I tap into the system and add a line to the turbo, the Velocity increases, hence the decrease in pressure as you stated above. That oil line relieves some of the pressure, as it gives the oil another place to go..

I already knew that adding the oil line right near the sending unit would cause a slight drop in pressure. It relieves some of the pressure by giving it a place to flow out of the pressurized system and into the oil pan.
I'll have to take a pic of the valve cover gasket to show you the damage.

Guess who called me when I got home tonight? Non other than James from RWTD!!! I now have the tune installed, and just got back from my first test run. Let me tell ya, the oil pressure gauge flew out of the pod, and into my lap when I stepped on it , not to mention the whole turning sideways thing!!!!
