Everyone's time comes its just a matter of when. Works the same way w/ tornado's and earthquakes. FL is just in a vounarable positon b/c of the way it sticks out from the mainland
It has nothing to do with sticking off the mainland (thats called a penisula BTW)
The warm water of the Gulf to the west combined with the Carribean's 80+F water and then the Gulf Stream bringing even more warm water from the Topics. ( that s part one ) Then you take hot air coming off mainland africa, starting off with very low pressure. It meets the Ocean and then it begins to pick up more and more moisture. (the warmer the air the more moisture it can hold. Blah Blah Blah Florida just happens to be placed almost perfectly to see about 2 out ever 5 Hurrinanes. Some go north and stay a fish while the other go into the Gulf of Mexico and either die or continue West and the hit florida
