Yeah I read those had great traction on dry roads. I'll be looking for a ultra high performance tire for the rear. Since I'm going to try and put 315s on, that really narrows down the selection of tires. Not a lot that are that big in a 17" rim.
When I followed that link it didn't show any tires wider that 255 in a 17" rim. Its going to take some shopping to find the right size tire.

oh yeah that was the reason I was not going to go w/ them on the back b/c they were not wide enoung in a 17X10.5 rim, try the good year Eagle F1's

I know the choices are slim but I will find something. I read those Eagles weren't that great or at least there were some not so favorable customer reviews at some of the tire sellers websites. Wide low profile tires won't be cheap.

That's basically why Im sticking w/ the Nitto's, once you get into sizes of 315's tires get expensive. I was going to go w/ the F1 Eagles but the Nittos are roughly 1/2 the price for a 2 of them. I dont drive the car a ton so them not lasting long is not a big issue to me and I like the added traction on the street. Not so good drag tire, but great grippy street tire.

Nor will they be good in the rain.

My 2 cents.

You talking the DRs or just high performance tires in general? There are some good high performance tires that can handle the rain but I don't know if they are wide enough. I wonder if a real wide tire would be more likely to hydroplane.

I try not to drive in the rain but rain storms do happen unexpectedly.

I would think so. They wouldn't cut through puddles as well as a skinny tire.

We all get caught in the rain from time to time but Im pretty sure every one of us has and most of us while using Nitto's , hell Larry drove his down to Chris's in the winter. Just have to be more careful that's all it comes down to. Getting a quality tire in the size you want is going to be $$ compared to the Nitto's that's all.

Nitto's arn't crappy tires

just saying there not as bad as everyone makes them out to be but you are over 500 RWHP too. Other tires will be more expensive so you will probably pay up the butt for them but you like it up the butt anyway

I consider them to be crappy street tires if they act like they do in less than idea conditions. I think they only belong on dry clean pavement like a track. I would say the same about other brands of DRs.

They are technically a DR but a lot of people use them for the street b/c they preform well on both and are not bad in the rain if you just slow down. I wouldn't run MT, BFG DR's for street tires though b/c they are more suited for just the track

Nittos are fine in the rain...just drive like an adult and you will be fine (been driving in the rain on Nitto DRs since i got my FR500s on

on a sidenote i killed a deer yesterday ( big old Doe)...ranged her at 287yds with my rangfinder...she went about 20feet after her lungs blew up from a 130gr .270 round lol
