yup happy thanksgiving

I Would like to give thanks to wiscassett ford for crossthreading my oil drain plug, because the dumbasses put it on with an impact wrench. And i would also like to give thanks to whomever can tell me why when i drained my oil today only 4 quarts came out. there is no friggin way! it should have used 2 quarts in 3500 miles or so.

I swear i am gonna light that damn car on fire tomorrow

I do love thanksgiving though it's prolly my fav holiday

And yes

I looked for leaks and found none

I then pulled the PCV valve and Intake duct up to the TB. no oil in there either.

The only 2 conclusions i can come up with

1. It's burning it somehow or somewhere

2. Wizford didn't put enough in

The oil was Rancid BTW a few to many pulls on the dyno+track action. which may be the reason it ate some oil but i find it hard to believe it sucked up 2 quarts in that time

You know you cant trust the dipstick right? They are actually too short for our cars. They give a false reading that the oil level is too low...

damn that sucks, hope that they just dident put enough in and not that your burning 2 qts between oil changes. Freds prob right though, it may be a false reading due to the dipstick, would it really read that much off though  . Is it just your guys cars or are alot of the dipsticks to short?

EDIT: I own Page 200!!!!!!!!!

Were slowly realing in the longest thread on stangnet and that is the Melbourne area stangs thread in the South East fourm. Theres is 344 pages but its been going since 11-1-01 and this one was started on 10-20-03. There only 144 pages ahead of us, keep up the whorin  :nice:

Happy Turkey Day !!!

BTW - my car consumes the same amount of oil with no leaks as well...It's a Ford Tradition !!! I started using Mr. Molly additive and it has slowed the consumption rate significantly. Plus I have 100k on my motor, so it's at the age where consumption is a way of life. :nonono:

It's rebuild time anyway, so I figure the additive isn't gonna hurt anything at this point.

I hope your Thanksgiving will be pleasant. It's nice to know my Stangnet family is a part of my Thanksgiving this year.

Take care and be well... Carol

Happy Turkey day F U CK ER S!!!!

Mike, that is an awful lot of oil to be burning..........you notice it in your exhaust if it were burning at that rate. My bet is that they didn't but enough in in the first place. What do you have on that motor? Like 10K miles??? Not nearly enough for the rings to be in bad shape. I had 30K+ on my GT with the blower and it didn't burn 1 drop of oil. Look at the back of the block where the tranny connects to the block. They might have damaged the rear main seal when they R&Red your tranny for the fix. Thats a long shot though. I'll take a look at it on Sat. when I get back to Maine if you want.

Oh by the way, its 65 here in Jersey right now.........wierd............

Well its full when it reads that its a quart low or just touching the dipstick

Guys i looked all over that car yesteday looking for a leak but i didn't find any. I have heard stories of 99/01 Cobras eating oil before.

All though i would think i would smell it if it is burning oil, especially on the dyno when it was WOT.

I'll have someone follow me wheni drive it and see if they can see or smell anyhting oil like

When i drained it. only 4 quarts came out (i measured it)
