If I get the title and get the car registerd by friday any chance you can take a look at it at the shop either friday/sat to see where that leak is comming from and about getting it fixed. Not sure how busy you guys are or if I need an appoitment so let me know. I dont want to dump alot into this motor but would be nice to go to the track just to see what teh old stock unmodded 5.0 will run and Its not a good idea to go the way it is now.

It's your rear main seal. You'll need to remove the trans and clutch to replace it.

Hey boys!! Whats going on? Still hot and sandy here. Can't wait to get home. Heard that the weather has been pretty nice.....:(

All is good over here bro. Still have not made a 1/4 mile pass yet this year though. When are you going to be back home? Looking at the calender, I have an August 26th test and tune planned. There are two test and tunes leading up to Tasca day in September, on the 16th and 23rd, and Tasca is on the 30th. Hopefully you get back in time to have a little fun with the Cobra, and us of course:D

Mike-

Chris-

I had a feeling it prob was the main seal since nothing else seemed to be leaking like the valve covers or the oil pan once I got a good look at it. Any chance you would be able to get that fixed at the shop friday or saturday?

Unfortunately, we are not zoned as a repair facility. Now if you we to put a new exhaust and clutch on, then I might be able to work something out. We don't have all our tools for performance work yet, but can do some things. You should try to tighten some of the rear pan bolts, but I really think it's the rear main. Does it leak oil really bad? You'll probably need to get it fixed elsewhere right now or unless you want to wait till you put other parts on. Shouldn't be too long untill we are up to full speed on the performance and then I can help you with most anything you need. Start up costs are a bitch. The fox is fairly easy to work on so I can't imagine it would cost too much, since it's all labor I'am thinking around $300 but might be less.

I will be home in way before Tasca Day (I hope). I actually I should be home right around the first test and tune you mentioned!

Ahhh, the memories.......

Sweet! Have you sprung for a new clutch yet?
No, not yet.......I will probably order when I get home. Looking at the Exedy setup right now. Depends on what I am able to save here. If I can only save a grand, then its going to be the DFX, 26 spline input shaft, Fidanza Flywheel, and Mcleod TOB sleeve deal from Lethal.

If you are ordering the DFX from McLeod make sure you tell them you need the modified pressure plate. Go thru McLeod direct, speak with Fred Taylor in Tech and tell him to reference my car for this as they had to custom build the p/p due to something odd with our 03' T-56's. I can get you the part number if you need it. It will only be available direct thru McLeod as they haven't been mass produced yet. Their standard p/p for the DFX is too thick to fit on the shaft. It makes the clutch fingers touch the t.o.b. and doesn't give you the needed 1/4" of space.

took my car out today. when I hit around 5 k it just hits a wall and kind of goes into a safe mode and won't let me hit the throttle too much. I can drive it but can't give it much throttle because it won't respond like there is no spark or fuel. If I shut is off momentarily it resets. It pulls hard until the spot in the RPM range then it does it all over again. I can drive it like that for a while before the computer or whatever resets then it full throttle fun again as long as I keep it below that 5k spot. Not sure whats up. Going to check it out again tomorrow and see if I can datalog.

Wondering if something happened when you used your laptop to reinstall the tunes. I have a feeling position #2 on your switch is bad. You'll have to bring it by some time, so I can look at it. Look for a fuel pressure drop at high rpm and re-check your rev limiter. In case it got changed from being under the hood alot.

I just thought of something after I posted this. It sounds like you may be blowing the spark out. I had that same thing happen to me a few times. It's like someone just shuts the car off a high rpm. I do remember you saying you changed or messed with the plugs.

well I would like to put on either some subframes or 3.73's this yr but not sure how much more I'll get into it then that. Id like to do the clutch when the new tranny goes in, just want to do things in the most systematic way as possible.

I'll ask around today at some places just to see what it will be. Id like to get it done soon just so I can drive it around, that the raido not working and prob needing a new spedo gear are the only real issues it has right now. The title is sitting at the post office I need to go pick it up so I can get it registered and inspected today.
