I work at the Maine Correctional Center. Pay is pretty good and cant beat state benefits. Ive been there for 4 yrs now. Job has its ups and downs its mentally tiring more then anything.

Well I think the hopes of an 03/04 Cobra are out the window. Im looking at financing around $20K plus to get one and the payments just come out to be to much per month unless I put a down payment on one. Im still talking w/ that guy w/ the 95 Cobra out in WA state were trying to work out an appraisal so I can get a loan for more then $10K b/c they only give you a loan for 90% of a car's value and most 95 Cobras book in the 10K range. Im also talking to the guy down in FL w/ the 94 Cobra that has the crap load of stuff done to it w/ the Cobra R components and the saleen 6 speed transmission.

Mike-

Not sure if I'll bring the PS3 or not I might end up bringing the bike up b/c my truck has some type of brake problem and I dont want to drive it the way it is unless I have to. Im meeting up w/a guy in So.portland at 9:30 AM so he can look at my bike, Im pretty sure hes going to buy it. After Im done with that I'll head up. If I take my truck I'll bring the PS3 if not I'll just take the bike. Is it ok w/ you if I crash there for the night if I do bring the bike since its going to be pretty damn cold to ride home once the sun goes down.

No problem bro, we have plenty of room here :)

I'd give ya a job on my boat, but all the things your complaining about apply here too. :rlaugh:

from reading other posts on here i take it you have a lobster boat. see thats very different from what i do. i love being out at sea. i basically sit on my butt all day and really work and hour out of my 12 hour shift. you would think getting paid to do nothing would be nice. but being stuck on a dredge for 30 days at a time gets boring. ive had people refer to my job as turtle hunting (i watch for turtles and make sure the dredge doesnt suck any up). but animal interactions are rare.
i worked in alaska on commercial fishing boats for 4 months. that was very interesting and a great experience, but the pay wasnt great. thanks for the replies guys.

were you on the deadliest catch? That shows awesome :D

Thanks for the cobra link :nice:

Thats a great deal but Its still close to the upper range of $20,000 as far as financing. I could finance $18 and pay the rest out of pocket but even doing 18K is a lot. By buying the 95 Cobra I can finance $13,000 and pay the rest out of pocket from selling the bike and various add ons from it and be in the payment range I want. Big difference between financing $18,000 and $13,000

nope just on commercial fishing boats. crabs are a totally different fishery. i worked with a guy from a dredge that did a season of crab fishing. said he will never go back. i love the show as well. i came back mid october and it was getting rough as hell. only like 7 hours of daylight. not worth it to me.

i def hear ya about the financing. i keep contemplating selling my cobra but i love her too much. if it had some of the problems others have i def would. but cant complain about it at all (except the mods part). but adding my own parts and modding it how i want makes it that much more enjoyable. good luck on your search. would think you could find some good deals on 95-99 cobras.

if I could go back and do it again I would have held off on getting a bike and kept my 95 GT b/c it was paid off. I could have just saved some money over the winter and put a down payment on a bike. But its easy to say that now but when your in the process of modding a car its hard to save "extra" money beyond what you put aside for mods.

Its a double edge sword and vicious circle. When it comes to push to shove though the Mustang wins, I just really miss the track. The car shows around here are bunk

hey whats up guys. I figured since you guys have been living in Maine i would ask you. I am looking for a new job. Im sick of the one i have. My current job requires me to go out on dredges for 30 days at a time. Pros: month on/month off schedule, pays decent, and is on the ocean. Cons: unpredictable work (may go 2 months without work), sucks being away, job i do sucks etc. I have a bachelors degree in Marine Biology and would love to find something related to that. But ive been searching forever and nothing is out there. I have also worked some in carpentry. Im living in Kennebunkport so closer the better. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions? thanks in advance.

you could check out some of the shellfish and salmon farms farther up the coast.
