SSP Mustangs

The 1982 - 1986 Speedometers had 140 mph, "CERTIFIED CALIBRATION" speedometers. 1987 - 1993 had 160 mph speedos.

The "buck tags" should be behind the driver's side headlamp, stapled or screwed to the radiator support. You sould be able to see them by looking down behind the headlight. Regular production Mustangs had one tag, SSPs got two. An additional bug tag could be found on either model if the "road abrasion" option was ordered (common in Canada). The buck tags are often missing if the car has had front end damage repaired.

Here's a photo of a buck tag (the headlight has been removed for illustration purposes):



If the door sticker shows a 6-digit DSO number (xx xxxx) in the lower, right corner, that is an indication it is an SSP.

Other possible clues: single-key locking system; trunk release button relocated from glove box; grounding straps on hood and deck lid hinges; holes in dash and/or center console (for installed police equipment); hole in A-pillar for spotlight.
