I have been shopping around for a good stall converter, and I found an auction on eBay that caught my eye. Apparently this is a Ford Racing converter and I wondered if anyone that has experience with converters (I know some of you guys have them and are very happy) could think of any reason not to buy this? Look at my mods in my sig. if you need to, but does this seem like a good quality converter with a good price and would work with my setup? Thanks in advance.

Aprox 800 above stock doesn't equal 3,000 rpm.

The convert is a modified stock size converter.

For $4.50 more you can get one from Andre at www.edgeracingconverters.com and he'll map the stall based on your car mods. Plus, you'll get a waranty from a reputable company.

You actually pick a stall size, then they build it according to your mods.

I personally thought a 3,000 would be way too big. My car is my daily driver. I told Edge I wanted it between 2,800 and 3,000 - as I would be adding Heads and a Cam down the road. They put it right at 2,800 and I love it.

Paul you think its a good idea to throw a street edge in my car without a rebuilt tranny? I've got 105K on the clock right now and Im debating weather to throw a Stall and a shift kit at it now or rebuild it first.

The only difference I see is the work of pulling the tranny again and the cost of the tranny fluid + modifier if you use it.

I found a guy here local that rebuilt mine for $450. I just had to bring him the tranny. If you can find someone like that... then I would do it all at the same time. If not, then put the shift kit, and stall in with fresh fluid and a new filter.... take your cahnces and see how much longer it lasts. I've been told by MANY people that the harder a tranny shifts (to a point) the easier it is on the tranny. It's the slipping, and heat that kills them. So in theory, your tranny "should" last longer with the shift kit and stall, then without. The only real question is... how long will it last anyway.

Mine gave me no notice the first time. Reverse just stopped working. The second time I blew out O/D - at least it started slipping on me and gradually got worse.

Well right now it isnt slipping and feels great. Just not enough bite off the line. I think I will skip the rebuild and just make sure and get a good trans cooler when I do it. Then just keep my fingers crossed.

Yeah, I should probably put that trans cooler on my car sometime.
