So my trans is done and im going to be puttin in a slightly used rebuilt one.

I was thinking this would be the perfect time to do a converter but it will cost me 700 bucks.

Im already struggling for traction on the streets but I think with some weight in the rear and some better tires I would be able to hook.

Is a 3600-4000 converter really worth it?

My car has no balls out of the hole...I can pretty much feel it take off at like 3500 rpms.

I love my 3200. I don't think I would go with that big of a stall of I were you. If you plan on making more power down the road, a 3600-4000 will be just too much. With the power I'm at and the 3200 I can just blow the tires off for a good 75+ft and that’s with MT DRs. I couldn't imagine what a 3600-4000 would be like in my car. I talked to a lot of shops before I bought my stall. Every single one recommended that I didn’t go any higher than a 3600 and they said the 3600 was even pushing it for a street car running street (DRs) tires. Not to mention you’re going to have to worry about the stock axles if you get a stall that big too.

One thing I would recommend is upgrade and get the triple disk since it will hold up better.

Are you putting in a rebuilt stocker or an upgraded one? I know mine held up a long time being 100% stock but if you’re replacing the tranny I would upgrade everything while you’re at it.

is this in the mach running 10.8 at 128 mph?

Lol...I think your making a bit more power than me though.

I was thinking 3600

Actually its just a GT but yea. Like I said though if you plan on making more power down the road I wouldn't go 3600. Not to mention you better be running some BFG DRs or MT DRs if you plan on hooking up. I will tell you right now I couldn't hook up with Nitto DRs to save my life with just 9lbs and an IC.

Im having Darrin from BC Automtoive rebuild my auto right now and he is going to be using a 3500 in my car.

Mine is like yours, not balls out of the hole even with the blower. The new stall should wake it up quite a bit. Mine isnt a DD though so I dont really care if its a bit too much.

unless your peak torque is unusually low for a centri setp-up - the difference between a 3200 and a 3500/3600 should only really be felt at WOT and even then it shouldn't be night in day. Although now that i'm thinking about it - if you have NPI parts that pushes peak power numbers down in the rpm's. I went with ported parts, stage 1 parts, and pi parts and my stall was reduced a lot.

Well, becuase this is my DD and I need it fixed ASAP I dont even think im gonna do a converter....it will take too long to get one built and get it shipped to me.

But a car with basically identical parts as mine made peak torque at about 4200

But I see what you mean...stalling at 3200 compared to 3600 probably isnt much of a differance...might be able to knock an extra tenth off the 60 foot...but every bit counts.
