I had the need for speed the other night and decided to gun it just to see the speed I could get it up to. When I got it up to 120 I backed off the gas and it just shuts off. Is this normal I've read these cars from the factory should be able to pull to 140 no problem. Its all stock with the exception of exhaust. Its also a 5 speed.

That's weird... I had my car up to 165 and got off the gas, she just kept running. If you're wondering how I figured 165 when the speedo only goes up to 150, I used the tach.

I believe that depending on the stock wheels/tire size, some cars had a factory speed limiter set at 120mph. I think the cars that came with 16" wheels had it, IIRC.

Very interesting to know that. I had no problem on my 97, but matching what you said it came with 17" wheels from the factory.

I was actually going around 130mph on a twisty mountainous road (interstate highway) in Arizona and this Turbo Bug blew by me... This was before my subframes...
