Stang projects for this year

Hopefully I can finish my Cobra project in the next month or so, just working weekends is taking forever. I have some projects stacked up for my GT:

Mega-Byte Jr's and new uca's
Bullitt brakes
Try & solve my cooling issue (still runs a bit too warm)

Install my 5spd swap I just pruchased
4pt roll bar
subframes
Some sort of tune (probably megasquirt w/wideband)
24lb injectors (picking them up on the 21st)
Swap my black and tan interior out for the charcoal interior in the garage
Suspension (really need some struts)

Wooohooo! Today is the first time since last fall that it has been over 60 two days in a row. I love Iowa (hardly).

I've got a few things on the chopping block:

Install front and rear coilovers
Install panhard bar
Install CC plates
Install/make new bushings
Design, fab, and install new headlight housings for HID
Relocate battery to trunk
Paint mirrors to match body

Maybe get accessory brackets and intake powdercoated

I'm trying!!! I just sold my '90GT today, so now I have some more money to spend! These saleen side skirts just showed up today too from Joe Heck Racing:

I'm wondering if I can pull off running them with the stock rear bumper or if I should just wait until I can do the rear as well.

Looking at the pics before I read the last comment I said to myself

"Paul really needs that rear bumper as the skirts just dont look right with the stocker."

Thats JMO Paul and I think you should wait on the paint till you have all your body panels. Spray it once the right way dont mess around. Thats just my advise take it for what it is but you know how I am about things like that and it should make the decision that much easier.

I've been trying to work on my car as weather permits since my garage is not heated.
- I've got a new short block getting machined and assembled now. Dart IE block with a 4.125" bore 3.25" stroke for a 347cu.
- I've already got my trick flow heads back from Fox Lake and had a stage 3 port done. New Ferrea valves, guides, springs. They now flow 304 CFM at .550 lift.:nice:
- TFS R box intake port matched to the heads.
- Still need to order up a custom cam.
- Upgraded the rearend to 31 spline with Eaton diff
- Already installed Wild Rides U/L Battle Box kit
- Already installed MM 6pt roll bar

Here are the new supporting parts I have sitting on a shelf waiting to go on yet.
- 60lb injectors
- PMAS 95mm Mass air
- Glenns Performance Sumped Tank
- Weldon 2025 Fuel Pump and Controller
- Weldon Regulator
- Aeromotive Rails
- Accufab 75mm fox TB
- 3" Pulley for the S-Trim
There is still a bunch of other misc little things that I need yet.

I am hoping to get it out on the road in about a month. I guess it is all going to depend on when the short block is complete. Now that the weather is getting nice I am really anxious to get it done.

This is whats been done to the car so far.

Bassani Catted X pipe.

This is whats been bought and I have received, is shipped and on its way, or in the process of being made. This is everything that will be installed next month.

Trick Flow R intake for the 351W

Trick flow Elbow Adapter.

1" spacer

Ford Racing Valve Covers

Timing Chain & Sprocket set

Autolite Plugs

MSD Cap & Rotor set

Mishimoto 2 core aluminum radiator

Camshaft thrust plate

Ed Curtis Custom Grind Cam

Abaco DBX 97MM Digital Meter (buying next week when they become available)

C&L Trueflow intake Tube.

After all this is on what I have left to do is

Dyno chip and tune

Maximum Motor sports lower control arms

Autometer gauges

New rubber all the way around

So that's how it breaks down for this year. My goal is to get deep into the 12's at the track. I'm hoping this new combo will help me reach that. I almost made a thread just like this not to long ago. Sounds like a lot of nice things being done to some stangs around here.

Install the LC1 wideband, reinstall the intake, install the DS loop, get it legal and drive the snot out of it. Run some datalogs finish up a few spots of the tune and spray the motor...hope I do not break the t5 too fast/soon.

My big goal was to just get the FUBAR'd lifters replaced. Got everything ready just need to pick up a 1250s gasket set and get her safety inspected/plated...got to love that MO changed the smog law...95 and older are now exempt :D :p

I would like to get rid of the stock guage cluster and move to a 5in speedo, put my 5in tack next to it, with the fuel level, and amp 2 5/8th guages in the autometer cluster panel for our years. Biggest reason is other than the fuel guage nothing works on the damn thing guage wise.

I would like to get some bullit shocks/struts and 03 coby A-arms but who knows. I was going to last year but ended up needing upper/lower control arms more.

might spring for a t-body.

NEED a paint job but that is aleast a few years off, would like to get some seats at that time...

Really just want to drive it more...would love to put 10-15k on it from May/June until early Oct.

Really just want to drive it more...would love to put 10-15k on it from May/June until early Oct.

I only drove mine about 3,000 miles from May to Oct last year(after driving it up from FL). Most if it was miles going back and forth to the track. I didn't put much on it just driving it to work when I did and to car shows that I went to. Its a double edge sword its so awesome to drive but Id like to keep the miles low.

Mine is a GT not a cobra so I am not too worried about miles. My speedo is also for 3.27 gears and has had 3.73s since 2000...so there are a LOT of miles on the odo that are not really there. Another reason to move to the autometer guage setup.

Since like 03 I have put like 6-8k miles on the car...that is the BIG reason I just want to drive the thing. That is like 1200-1500 miles a year. I want to buy a new DD so I do not know how much the sales tax will eat into toy funds in the end.

well this weekend is raceway parks swap meet and my birthdays in 13 days, so i have alot planned.

the swap meet i'm hoping to pick up a upper and lower intake, some valve covers, and a 302 block/ complete motor, depending on what i find. also would like to buy a battery relocation kit.

i'm also looking for some long tube headers & and offroad x pipe, but i don't know if i will find what i'm looking for so i will probably just order them monday.

i've got yukon 3.73s + install kit sitting in my bed room waiting for a good day to throw them in.

i also remember a place down at englishtown that deals with paint, if i can find some high temp flat black paint i'm going to buy it for my brackets and stuff i'd like to paint my engine bay black too, so any grease or grime that gets on it will be forgiving and not really show, and any chrome or anything i put on the engine it will make it stand out. and on a nice day take off the fenders and hide all the wiring i can. clean up my engine real nice.

got alot in store for the car, that i can't wait till i get started

need to throw in a new power steering pump & fuel pump, which will probably happen early may.

also want to do little things such as new badges, MGW short throw shifter, MGW knob, bullitt pedals.

My Mustang is all stock including the silencer...That being said my list is kind of a beginner list of bolt-ons. I do plan to start building a motor though as my car has 141,500 miles on it.

***Remove silencer and swap in K&N filter
***MSD Cap/Rotor
***Stock replacement plugs
***Red Ford Racing Wires
Ford Racing Polished Cobra Intake
***Long Tube Headers
***O/R H-pipe
***Flowmaster or Magnaflow Catback
***BBK Aluminum Underdrive Pulleys
Aluminum Drive Shaft
Cobra 3 inch hood
Cobra Front bumper cover
***Eibach Prokit or Ford Racing C-Springs
Bullitt Brake kit
***17x9/17x10.5 Black or Chrome Wheels
***Nitto 555 Front and Nitto 555DR Rears
$1500 paint and body work

and lots of other stuff. I probably will only get the items with the *** done by this fall...

I've been waiting quite a while to upgrade things and the car kinda forced my hand when I started getting too much blowby last fall, so when I started collecting parts, I kinda threw caution to the wind. The anticipation of the whole thing is killing me though.
Especially after driving my 92 F150 beater (that I now have to roll the window down so I can open the door and get out) for the last 8 months.
