I just did a little experiment to see where all these stupid tracking co spyware files are coming from... It appears as tho stangnet may be the source. Anyone else having a problem with this?
I usually run Adaware at least once a week or whenever I notice my computer slowing down.I usually have at least 20 spyware files but I never tried to figure out the source. A good place to get Adaware is http://www.majorgeeks.com/article.php?sid=506&cat=31
ya, I've been noticing a bunch of junk on my computer too, more than usual since we never do jack squat on our computer except check e-mail and check stangnet and a few other sites, so who knows where its all coming from, all I know is that it's damn annoying
I ran ad aware to cleans my computer and then set my home page to stang net. I then logged on to stang net and perused the forums a bit. Ran adaware (1 tracking co.) ok so I left it there logged back onto stangnet looked around abit (2 tracking co) repeated this (3 tracking co) YAY! I remember the first time I ran ad aware I think tracking co came up something to the tune of 200 times... or roughly the amount of visits I had made to stang net that year. I may be wrong but the evidence apears to be stacking up. Can someone else confirm this?
Goto www.safer-networking.org and download the latest version of Spybot Search And Destroy (v 1.3).
Do the "immunize" and "block bad downloads". This will prevent your browser from downloading bad cookies and ActiveX controls (Dialers, toolbars, etc..)
i think your paranoid, I think most of the spyware is in program form like kazaa, bonzi buddy stuff like that, you shouldn't be getting anything from stangnet considering you dont download anything, the only thing on your computer from stangnet should be cookies and thats it
Well my comp doesn't have kazaa or anything else like that, so all the crap that builds up on my comp has got to be from StangNet, WebCt and the few other sites i visit. I'm not saying I'm going to stop visiting StangNet, I'm just saying that it's annoying to have to run Ad-Aware so often.
