When I start my car.. on a cold start my rpm's will go up to 2000 for about 10-15 secs. then drop to 1000.. when i start it at a normal temp. it will go up to 2000 and stay there for about 30sec -1 min sometimes a little longer... what would cause this? Thanks!

I just changed my battery, maybe that's the problem? Holy crap did my old battery suck the life out of the car.

What does it idle at (hot idle) after it fixes itself? Has the idle setting been changed recently and what was the method, if it was?

IAC been cleaned? TPS checked for proper values? any codes?

yeah it idles fine... idk if its been changed i just bought it about a little over a month ago. IAC- no TPS-No Codes... well my CEL goes on and and off, only comes on while im driving and only stays on for about 1min. or less.

I would start with yanking those codes - these puter controlled cars are a lot more involved than older stuff was, but the self-diagnostics are there to help us.

i tried to get them pulled at autozone but the cel doesnt turn on unless im driving so they couldnt get codes

Nope - the codes are stored in the KAM (keep alive memory) even if the CEL is not illuminated at the time.

Codes are stored, so if you CEL has come on at any time since you last pulled the battery (thus draining the KAM) then you'll have codes still in the memory.
