i am re coating my wheel wells!

i only got half way done (did the rears) the reason why it took so long is because i was surprised as to what i ran into while i was working:

i degreased the wheel wells with simple green. the first wipe with my sponge i was surprised to see how much 'grease' was coming off on the sponge (simple green ftw!) i then sprayed it down again and JUST AS MUCH 'grease' came off. i became suspicious. i kept wiping and noticed that the whole undercoat was coming off!:

is this normal?

i then masked everything off and then sprayed the underlining on:

ill be doing the front tomorrow (depending on the weather)

Looks good! Yeah, when I started cleaning mine, same thing happened. So I then stuck with soap and water

not sure what you mean here. are you saying the front is a plastic insert? the back is plastic too.

the front is just as bad. there is a permanent webbed splash pattern absorbed into that plastic

good to know because i thought it was a consequence of a crappy paint job (one that was performed before i took ownership)
