Started my 347 up but major problem!

I'll second the solenoid going out. Happened on my Mach 1 - made a horrible screeching noise. $35.00 and a new starter later, all is well.

not to go overboard on the on your leak, but a friend and I built a 327 chevy(i realize not quite the same deal) but the intake he used was brand new. it seems that it came from the factory with a bad cut where the housing bolts and would nevers let it set. played with it for a week, sent the intake back, got a new one (one shot---one kill) just food for thought. good luck
