Ok...damn starter...

I have this problem (this is my third starter) where my starter will work normally for a while and then it "sticks" on startup. It will keep going like the gear is still engaged.

I have heard some people say that high levels of heat can cause this. I have shorty headers...is this the case?

I wouldnt mind cause I have a lifetime warranty on my starter via autozone but they are the biggest pain in the a$$ to change out :(

How many months are you getting out of your starter? Do you have them tested when they go bad? Long tubes can kill a starter and they will start to suffer from "heat soak", but not always. They ussually don't have the symptoms that you are getting though. Check all of your grounds and double check all of the connections at the solenoid. Bad grounds can cause strange things to happen.

I probably get about 4-6 months out of a starter. But in Michigan I only drive my car during the summer anyways..so it seems that I am replacing one every summer.

I dont have long tubes I have bbk shorty's. I dont know. I was thinking about wrapping my headers to see if that changes. My headers look like crap anyways because they are all heat scorned and what not.
