After starting my car today my starter didnt want to disengage or stop turning over.It has done this a few times this week.I could remove my keys and i could still hear my starter screaming, no matter what i did it would not stop. After a few times turning my ignition off and on it finally stopped.Could this be the relay sticking or could it be a problem with the starter itself.Anyone have this problem before?

Thx

Next time it does it, pull the L shaped push on connector off the starter relay (or solenoid). If it stops immediately, the ignition switch is at fault. If not, then the starter relay is bad.

There is a FREE recall on Ford ignition switches. They overheat and sometimes catch fire.

Copy down you VIN number and call the Ford dealer nearest you. Tell them you want to see if the ignition switch recall for Fords & Mustangs was done on your car. They will ask for the VIN number & check it against the master database. If it isn't in the datbase, then you can schedule an appointment to have the switch replaced for free. The TSB is #95S28, and don't let them tell you that they don't do that anymore...

More likely than naught its the starter relay. Make sure to get a Motorcraft replacement. I made the mistake of buying a cheap auto parts store one and it went bad within the day.
