My starter wont engage when I start it up it just spins and spins. I thought it was the starter but that was not it. Could it be it is not close enough. It worked a day ago but for the past todays it did and this and i can't figure it out, i replaced the starter.

Could be a defective starter, even a rebuilt can have problems. Either that or the starters nose cone is wrong for your car and is not letting the gear get close enough to engage the flywheel correctly.

Sounds like the bendix (throw out + 1 way clutch) is simply not working and moving the starter's drive gear out to mate with the flywheel. These clutches are serviceable separately from the starter but it is probalby more cost effective to just get a rebuilt starter....plus you get on the lifetime warranty train (if applicable at your local store). Since your starter spins but does not engage I think this is your problem.
