1997 Cobra..... these do have a solenoid right? If so, where is it located? I get the dreaded "TICK" when trying to start the car, even if jumping it. Im hoping it's the solenoid and not the starter.

Thanks for any help!!

I had the same problem...I'd check the engine ground...take a jumper cable and put one end on the neg terminal of the battery and the other end on a bolt on the alternator or some other bolt that goes into the block...try starting your car and if it starts you have a bad ground...the ground is behind the oil filter on the drivers side of the car...have fun getting to the nut that holds it on...Cobras are known to have this problem...

If you are getting the tick when you turn the key, your solenoid on the starter is working...

one of 2 things you starter is gone. or if you have an alarm, look to see where the brain is. the genius at the ford dealer installed the brain right behind my clutch pedal. so after a couple of years of the pedal hitting it right where the harness plugs to the brain, it broke the harness. so in turn it wouldn't start. so i had to bypass it to get it started.
