Starter

Starter solenoid is more than likely stuck.

I agree. I was going to say something different but then I realized this is an 88 so it has the conventional setup with a fender mounted solenoid. Beat the crap out of the solenoid with a hammer, I bet it won't act up again for a long time, and if it does, replace it. Fords have been doing the same crap since 1964 at least :rlaugh:

Tap it with the handle of a screw driver DONT BEAT IT. If it keeps acting up replace it. Try running an extra ground wire to one or more of the bolts that hold on the Starter solenoid. The relays usualloy go bad due to a bad ground or not a strong enough ground

Ya I can try that I just got a new solenoid and it just started doing the same thing. you guys are probally right I just need to ground it better. Im just worried if it starts doing that and Im in a parking lot loll I will be S.O.L
