I am having issues with my starter/ solenoid...i cant figure out whats doing it. first, a few months ago i noticed that my car would not always crank when i turn the key. I would turn it and it would just click then after turning it 20 or so times it would finally turn over. So i ordered a new solenoid...put it on...worked fine for about a week then burnt up...i put the old one back in and once again it worked half of the time...then i ordered another new one..it lasted about a 3 weeks then last night im in a parking lot (of course not at home) and it burns up...so luckily i had my original one with me so i popped it back in. my battery was dead but once i got a jump i started it right up. so im wondering why i keep burning the solenoids up? everything is original as far as the starter goes. Give me some ideas guys! THANKS

I had a problem similar to this, turned out it wasn't the solenoid itself, but the wire that turns it on from the control side. Mine had cracked so bad under the tape that it would only work when it was positioned just right. I ended up cutting it out and running and new one and haven't had a problem since

hey man i think i figured mine out my car would start fine but kept frying solenoids i went through all the wiring ,switches ,mad sure everything was grounded good , finnaly a guy told me the starter could be the problem i replaced it and so far its running good. he told me to check the wire on top of the solenoid that plugs in . it should only be hot when starting . mine was hot all the time . so starter had a short. i know what your going through i have had my whole dash out looking for a short hope this helps

a lot of people at autozone are idiots and are to lazy to look things up i can say that cause i used to work there years ago . called about a clutch fan one time they told me they did not carry them i asked the guy where he was standing. told him to turn around and look behind him on the wall there they were. try replacing the strater and the solenoid the short in the starter is screwing up the solenoid .
