Hey guys, I haven't used my 2000 GT in about 5 months (I know ). What are the appropriate steps to take? I read that I should pour some Stabil in the fuel and I know I have to get the oil changed first thing but anything else. Should I pour some oil in the engine before I crank it up? Thanks for any and all replies.

Just turn the key enough to turn the car over for a split second and then quickly turn off.
Do this about 5 times.
This will get the oil to the overhead cam.
That's about it.

is the garage heated or not? if its sitting inside a warm garage it wont be in too bad of shape. but cold oil is hard on cars, if you dont believe me just try to pour oil when its like 10 degrees outside and its basically mollassis. your fuel is probably already lost...i dont think stabil will help you. but do what he said... and thats your best shot...

Easiest way I know of is to Pull the fuse for the fuel pump, that way you get into the motor, but no gas for it to fire. Do that for a few seconds, and put the fuse back in.

As far as fuel, just turn the key to the "On" Position, wait a few seconds, then "Off".
This will activate the electric fuel pump.
It basically acts like a primer.

Atually the easiest way to get oil to the cams is to push the throttle all the way to the floor while cranking the engine. That disables the injectors and the engine won't fire. Crank it for 5 seconds. Let it cool for 30 seconds crank 5 seconds, let it cool 30 minutes and fire it up. Let it I dle and chech the guages and the enginbe for leaks. My run like **** till you get new gas in it.

I'd just change the oil now before you start it. That way the new oil you pour down the filler neck will lubricate whatever it can on the way down. Then, I'd just crank it right up.

I would think the gas should still be ok after only 5 months, but if you feel like putting the stablizer stuff in, I'm sure it wouldn't hurt.

+1 holding the gas pedal to the floor will let it crank without starting... Although there are various other methods, that is the easiest way to crank without starting the engine IMHO.

Pedal method is the easiest way. I don't get excited about pulling a fuse on the fuel pump. Bad memories from my Fox days *chill*.

Or just move to AZ, race all year round, and sweat like crazy all summer long. It's a fair trade..
