Well. after my HG install drove the car around for a while, and to columbus and back...after sitting most of the winter. i'd say it was driven about 350 miles since the HG install. then it sat again for about 2 weeks. got it out the other day, drove it uptown washed it got gas, brought it home to take pictures and then i parked it for about 5 min in the drive way.. well then my sister wanted to play bball so i had to move it. it cranked jut fine but no start. after a few tries i could smell gas pretty strong.
i took it apart today and tried some diffrent things...
i have MSD ignition which has been on the car since i bought it 3,000 miles ago.
-what kind of voltage should be on the wires that come from the msd box to the coil??
-i did the trick to see if there was spark at the coil by seeing if i had spark from the coil to the block, but i didnt have anything.... is it the coil??

my guess is the coil or the msd box...

when you washed it did you get the msd wet I cooked two boxes like that 4 years ago and they didn't die right after I guess it took a while to cook the circuits

If you have any good performance parts stores around they'll have a box tester but in short if there's voltage going in and none coming out you know its it

there are two wires going to the coil from the msd box....from ground they both have 12 volts on them
is it suppose to be that way?????

if you have an volt/ohms meter you could test the coil for resitance that doesn't sound right 12n12

i just checked the resistance on the coil....
first from red to output then from black to output and got nothing either way...
then i went from red to black and got a reading anywhere between 0 and 1 ohms...
this means there is a short in the coil right??

for primary windings 0.5 to 2.0 ohms

for secondary windings 8000 to 20,000

haynes manual should narrow down those resistance numbers a little

oh when i went from red to black, the msd wasnt attached...that reading was directly from the coil

you dont want the msd attached when you do this your just testing the coil itself

I bought mine locally at a performance shop and they took care of me its usually a two week turn around if they have to send it to msd but in portland, or where i used to live the performance store hooked me up if I was racing that weekend and gave me a new one off the shelf.

I don't know where you got yours from but you might have to contact msd
