Those in the Northwest might be able to help here, or anyone who has been living with wet and wild weather period. My car is parked under a carport, that is open but somewhat protected from the wind and rain, Go to work and it sits in the open where wind and rain pummel it in a regular basis, as has been the case in Oregon for 6 months now and I get off work in the down pours or right after and when I go to start my baby the starter drags and does not start easily. It has happened often enough the last 2 months and have narowed it down to rain blowin in under the hood and getting something wet it enough to cause the starter to drag on initial crank. Any suggestions on "what" part under the hood that is getting wet and can I block it ? Thanks. Will check back later here to see what if anything can be done.

A part directly getting wet is not your issue. It may just be the moisture in the air.

Starting issues as well

hello - I hate to 'jump' a thread - but my 07 gt has trouble starting as well ....after it's been running ...say 45 minutes .....I have mutha thumpers and a H pipe -CAI and a breenspeed tune .....it starts great .....runs great...and then I'll stop at a gas station or something ....and it will crank ...'putter' ....crank ...'putter' ...and then it will 'pop' and run w/a little pump of the throttle ....what could cause this?? ....is it the lack of cats putting out back pressure ...I'm I running too rich?.....(tune) ...any help would be great - I live in AZ so there's no moisture issues at all....

Starting issue...cont.

I don't consider this at all thread jumping and appreciate finding out about any problem with starting issues on the 07. This last time was last week and after not starting and my electronics going nuts on the 3rd try, I called a tow truck. The guy got there and suggested jump starting it. I said YOU do it, I'll stand out in the pouring down rain while you try and start it. After a couple minutes, it fired right up. He said it was either the battery OR battery connection or some other electrical issue. I make sure that nothing is on when I shut it down when I get home and let it run for about 2 minutes before I turn the key off. So far it has fired right up and with improving weather am hoping its a done deal for problems. If not.........grrr.......

Hi Unbrdld07 and chgovfk,

This is Deysha with Ford Customer Service. Have you guys been able to bring your vehicles in to your dealer to have them diagnosed? If not, please contact your dealer as soon as possible. Also, I would like to see how I can help as well. Please message me with your dealer, mileage, VIN, and contact info.

Thanks Deysha - but as of late, my car has been running a lot better - my car just sits alot and the alarm I have drains the battery - I think I just need one of those quick battery disconnects (and a new battery) ....but even w/that then my car then sits w/no alarm - and even though it's in a garage w/another car blocking it in deep....I just can't leave it w/out an alarm on ...(I grew up in Chicago)....and unless it's on jack stands w/out any tires and the battery out - I feel as if I cannot trust it ....plus dealers basically "rap*' you if go in there when your car is 'off' warranty ....I have very low miles but my years ran out....but thanks for trying to help.....

Having trouble with the engine light. Had the oil changed, the plugs changed and the battery posts cleaned. One of them keeps getting acid buildup on it. The engine light turned off but the light came back on when i accelerated. Now the battery light is on and it hesitates when i turn over the car. So, what is the best battery for a 2004 V-8 Mustang? or should i just have the alternator checked? Been out of work for 5mo, so cheaper is better.

There are little disks (green and red) and some goo that you put on battery posts for corrosion - so that may help - take your battery and alternator out and have them checked at autozone to see if the bat can hold a charge and that the alt is working - ....look at the meter yourself when they do the test - remember they are in the biz of selling new parts

.....I would take the battery out and give it a FULL charge and see what happens ...has helped me ....as you can see with my issues above .....I've made it a point to drive my car everyday this week and it's running a lot better ....almost perfect

Sorry to hear about the 5 months w/o work - suggestion - and I don't know what field ur in - research a company or top companies you want to work for (don't take any job) - email them - ask if they have openings - explain briefly your skills - and ask if u can send a resume in (have a good resume ready) - or go there - submit it in person - ask for the human resource person and 'force' a mtg - be aggressive - don't 'take' no for an answer - say your working anyway right now (side construction w/a friend?? it's B/S but sounds better) - but want to further your professional career - work for peanuts as a start ( I always say I'll work for free to start ( not really but it shows u want the job) - get a 'foot' in the door and make yourself in-dispensable .....get a 'mean' on... and get a great job.

As for best battery - research it on line - but its usually what you can afford - I live in AZ - so we burn through batteries a quick -o ...so no use in spending that much $$
